Hegelplatz 2030 Scenario
Sharing Space
As part of the IBA School 2017, three student groups from the HfWU Nürtingen-Geislingen and the Universidade de Lisboa dedicated themselves to the inner-city traffic space that dominates urban space. Using the example of the Hegelplatz (Kriegsbergstraße, Stuttgart) in the area of the city garden, which is lined with the university library, the Katharinenhospital, the Lindenmuseum and the university laboratories, the transformation of public urban space was examined.
For this purpose, a sustainable mobility concept in the sense of the “shared space” will be developed for the year 2030 in order to create a concrete public space. It proposes a multiple use of streets and their edges as well as a functional and structural development along the streets to the network of urban spaces. Step by step, the urban space should visually and spatially connect with the surrounding green of the high altitudes and thus shape the urban landscape on Hegelplatz in the future. The aim is to create recreational areas, green spaces and thus biodiversity in the city and a better tolerated thermal environment in the urban climate.
