Guiding Principle for the Region
Transformation. Concretion. Integration.
The student team of the HfT Stuttgart deals with the region and has the aim to develop a first spatial model for the IBA 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart. Therefore, the basic question is, what are the defining characteristics of the StadtRegion Stuttgart? What are the peculiarities, the abnormalities – both positive and negative?
Above all, it is striking that there is an identity-defining characteristic of the varied landscape, which can be reached in a short time in the entire region. The strong center of commerce and industry, which is characterized by innovation, numerous research and educational institutions and world-leading companies, as well as having a strong external influence, is also influential. Spatially, the region is characterized by a pronounced polycentricity.
The illustrated guiding principle with its objectives refers to a longer-term period until 2050. The IBA 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart should thereby initiate the implementation of these goals, as well as initial ideas and the implemented projects should be “test projects” to address the future questions of the region.
